A 9-week modularized program for children k - 12

PATTS HOME

 

Kindgarden – 2nd Grade Curriculum

Session #1:  Group Orientation

Group purpose:  Clarify group purpose and expectations of group, along with team building exercises and establishing personal caring behavior goals.

Session #2:  Caring Behavior- Working Together

Group purpose:  Teach the students that they can demonstrate caring behavior by how they share and work together with others. 

Session 3 – Caring Words

Group Purpose: This session will teach the students that they can demonstrate caring behavior with their words. 

Session 4 – Expressing Feelings

Group Purpose: Teach the students that they have many feelings and it is important to tell people how they are feeling. 

Session 5 – Calming Down

Group Purpose:  Teach the students to recognize when they are angry and how they can calm themselves down.

Session 6 – Responsibility

Group Purpose:  Children learn to take responsibility for their behavior and choices.  It will emphasize that there are consequences that occur because of our actions and they need to think of the consequences before they take action. 

Session 7 – Stop-Think-Act

Group Purpose:  Children will learn to stop and think before they act. 

Session 8 – Being Peacemakers

Group Purpose:  This session will encourage the students to be proud of being positive role models in their school, home and neighborhood. 

Session 9 – Review & Graduation

Group Purpose:  This session will review all the concepts taught in the program.  Participants will also have an opportunity to be recognized for completing the program.

Teacher Training

This session will provide teachers with an understanding of the PATTS program and the skills that were taught to the students in the PATTS program.

Objectives

·         Teachers will understand how students are chosen for the PATTS program

·         Teachers will understand the logistics of the program including how many sessions, meeting times, etc.

·         Teachers will understand the basic concepts taught to the students regarding positive conflict resolution skills.

·         Teachers will have an understanding of how to utilize these skills in their classrooms.

Parent Training

This session will provide parents/guardian with an understanding of the PATTS program and the skills that were taught to the students in the PATTS program.

Objectives

·         Parents/guardians will learn the objectives of the PATTS program.

·         Parents/guardians will learn ways to support their children in using the positive conflict resolution skills taught in the PATTS program
